Kittyhawk Aerodrome

near ripe, east sussex.

Runway Status @ 14.10.21

Runway 16/34: Closed for maintenance.
Runway 10/28: Open.
16/34 is now offset a few metres to the west. Official dimensions are 500x17 with runoff at both ends. Further away from the tree line & avoiding the old scalped & bumpy centreline, giving us time to repair it when we re-integrate the southern extension.

Lovely airfield and a very friendly welcome. Choice of runways is great for landings in all wind directions. A nice stopping off point close to Beachy Head and some great coastal locations.

I flew in to this lovely airfield in Sussex in an Ikarus C42 aircraft in late May 2021. It has nice views of the South Downs rolling countryside. It is easy to find in uncongested airspace, runways and facilities in nice condition. We received a warm welcome from the owner who is investing in the airfield and facilities to make it an attractive place to fly in to. The website has full details and information for pilots. Well worth making a visit.

First visit to the airfield this weekend and will certainly be back. Very friendly and helpful, clear website and in particular automatic PPR following the online form unless you hear otherwise is a breath of fresh air.

Small friendly airfield. Two grass strips so usable whatever the wind direction. Watch out for traffic from nearby Deanlands to the east and the paragliders to the west.
